After a good day fishing - Try this new beer

After a good day fishing, nothing beats a cold beer. While most Aussie fishermen and women will stick to their favourite beer brands (VB and XXXX have the lions share), more and more we're seeing Aussies step outside their comfort zone and try premium, exotic and flavoured beers.

One of the newest flavoured beers to hit the Aussie beer Market is from The Beltz group called Kwencher Clingstone Peach & Darjeeling Tea Infused Lager and in our opinion it's certainly something we'd say you should try whether or not you generally like your flavoured beers.

Inspired by a trip to Morocco in 2008, husband and wife team David Burns and Elly Meltzer fell in love with sharing peach iced tea and icy local beer. The idea of blending the two flavours became a reality upon their return to Australia when they developed the Kwencher Clingstone Peach and Darjeeling Tea Lager.

Produced in the home of the mighty Cats, Geelong,  Victoria, the flavours  of this peach and tea beer are all natural and preservative free and are dosed into the brew prior to bottling.

The Kwencher peach and tea brew is a pale, straw colour and has great clarity and an inviting aroma. We found it refreshing and while it won't necessarily become our every day fishing beer, there is certainly room in the beer fridge for a few to share with friends after a good day on the water. Enjoyed on the weekend with a couple of mates, the Kwencher peach and tea lager even got compliments from the most diehard of lager loyalists.

The tea and peach beer also has a talented brother, with the Kwencher Pale Ale Voted Australasia's best pale ale at the 2013 Asia Beer Awards, so this is definitely a beer brand we'll see more of.

For more information on these two great new beers, visit http://kwencher.com.au/, buy it from a beer shop online or ask for it at your local liquor barn.

Bar Crusher’s latest hard top Fishing Weapon released

Bar Crusher’s new Fishing Weapon 730HT is a bullet-proof offshore fishing machine for hardcore bluewater anglers.

Whether charging the bar as you’re heading out fishing or punching into a messy sea on your way back to the ramp, the Bar Crusher 730HT will get you there – quickly, safely and in comfort.

Constructed from heavy duty, high-tensile 5mm (bottom sides) and 4mm (top sides) marine grade plate aluminium, the 730HT measures 7.30m LOA with a 2.47m beam. Its high-tech Waveslicer™ non-pounding, deep-V hull delivers an ultra-smooth ride, the expertly-engineered Rigideck™ sub-floor system ensures maximum hull strength and Bar Crusher’s exclusive Quickflow™ water ballast technology ensures the boat is extremely stable at rest.

The 730HT’s toughened safety glass windscreen and all-weather hard top allows full standing room and an unobstructed 360-degree view from the helm. Deluxe helm seats are mounted on top of heavy-duty seat boxes with convenient tackle storage, while the functional helm station allows for installation of the latest large-screen marine electronics. The comfortable bunk arrangement provides accommodation for overnight trips.

Interestingly, Bar Crusher’s design team has managed to build the new 730HT to have the largest cockpit fishing area of all Bar Crusher models – even larger than the flagship 780HT. This was possible through rearranging the sub-floor framing and moving the cabin forward, to achieve the best combination of usable bunk length and maximum cockpit space.

The massive cockpit fishing area is ready for serious action too – self-draining deck with scuppers, step-through transom, marlin board with berley bucket, rod holders, plumbed livebait tank, in-floor fish storage tank and large-volume storage pockets which will easily accommodate tagpoles, gaffs and other essential equipment. The fully-welded checkerplate deck is extremely easy to clean after a solid day on the water.

Rocket launcher, hydraulic steering, dual battery system and Hella low-voltage coaming lights are fitted as standard, while Bar Crusher’s impressive options list for the 730HT includes lock-up cabin, deck wash, overhead LED lighting, Stress Free anchor winch, Sarca anchor, electric macerator toilet and more.

Rated to carry a 200-250hp outboard, the 730HT’s superior performance capabilities, 280L fuel capacity and all-weather protection are just a few reasons why this model will follow in the footsteps of other models in the Bar Crusher fleet to earn a reputation as one of the most versatile hard top trailerable sportfishing boats on the market.

The BBQ School a Treat for Fishlovers

FishMax had the pleasure of recently joining a fun group of fishlovers at the Beer & BBQ Seafood class run by the Bar-be School.

Held at the iconic Shafton Hotel, chefs Aanat and Rob took the class of 12 guys and 2 girls through all the steps necessary to prepare a 4 course Seafood BBQ feast.

The fresh Tuna, Cobia and Red  Emperor dishes were magnificent and the mussel dish a real highlight.

The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable - in our class,  3 of the attendees had signed up after doing earlier classes with the Bar-be School guys, so that's probably evidence enough that it's a well run, enjoyable event.

As well as great food and plenty of it, all courses were matched with James Squire beers and for those who wanted, there was always a refill available.

Bar-Be School offers a range of BBQ Courses nationally throughout the year in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Hunter Valley.

The classes demonstrate the ease and versatility of what we can all achieve when cooking and entertaining on the BBQ. As well as delicious seafood other classes also cover  BBQ Meat,  BBQ Game & Poultry, BBQ Cocktail and Canapes

Classes are both demonstration and hands on and are all inclusive which means you don’t have to bring anything other than a big appetite!  Bar-be school also provides a recipe book and  notes with all recipes for you to take home and try your hand at!
